Xero sync error: Account code for chart of account must be unique

Why the sync error occurs

This error occurs when an account can't sync to Xero, because the account number already exists on an account in Xero.

How to fix the sync error

  1. On the sync status page, select the account name
  2. Select the edit icon
  3. Add a unique account number
  4. Select Save
  5. Sync again

If the account already exists in Xero, contact Customer Support to link the accounts.
